Dear Members of the Planning Board:

I am writing to you because I am unable to attend the meeting this evening. I am hand-delivering the letter during the day with the request that it be distributed to you before the close of the meeting and entered into the Public Hearing Minutes.
My statement includes two attachments in response to Trustee Neil Dwyer’s concern about data and potential issues.

–Attachment #1 of September 13, 2017: “Over 180 scientists and doctors from 35 countries sent a declaration to officials of the European Commission demanding a moratorium on the increase of cell antennas for planned 5G expansion. Concerns over health effects from higher radiation exposure include potential neurological impacts, infertility, and cancer.” Verizon is an industry leader in 5G. Do we have legal assurance from Verizon that this antenna site does not and will not in any way fit into their future 5G roll-out plans?
–Attachment #2:
EMF Real Estate Survey Results: “Neighborhood Cell Towers & Antennas—Do They Impact A Property’s Desirability?” The answer is a resounding yes, cell towers lower property values and resale desirability of nearby houses. How will cell towers and antennas impact the Village of Monroe’s real estate tax and rate?

The purpose of the 1996 law was for safety—help for motorists in an accident and needing help. Look at the Law’s original intent in comparison to the purpose given for this antenna. This is for more capacity, not more coverage. It is for people in the shopping area parking lot and in the stores who already have service, but their downloading for checking coupons is considered too slow.

Really? We are going to compromise the health of Village residents and the value of their property so a few people could save a few cents on coupons and others can comparison shop on Amazon more quickly? This antenna is not necessary, and its cost benefit may be good for Verizon but it is definitely bad for the residents who live near its location.
